With People fascinating over the Avengers, Batman and superman there are a few people whose comics are real war stories and those who fight for the nation are their true heroes. While we still remember the phrases “ Yeh dil maange more” and “No sir I will not abandon my tank my main gun is still working and I will get these bastards” by Capt Vikram Batra , PVC and 2nd Lt Arun Khetarpal , PVC we forget the sacrifices made by our men in uniform in this modern age. Martyrs protecting us from terrorists, insurgents, militants and also the saviours during natural calamities. We not only failed to respect them, but we also forget them way too easily. Going ahead with the quote “ war is politics with blood and politics is war without blood” , the latter was significantly ignoring the first one , I would like to bring back a few moments of these Heroes of our nation. Unlike a politician on air saying “ they get paid to get killed” I respect each and every soldier and thank them from my heart.
“ You have never lived until you have almost died,
Those who choose to fight, life has a special flavour,
The protected shall never know” – Capt R Subramaniam , KC (Posthumous)
I as a protected shall never understand why is this an every soldier’s dream “when I come back wrapped up in the Tri colour, tell my mother I did my best”.

Martyred on 17 Nov 2015, The 38 year old officer was adopted by a simple family in Maharashtra. His classmate , also a serving Colonel quotes “He was born for this. He would always speak about making a supreme sacrifice. Col.MN Rai, YSM
“ Zindagi Badi shidat se aubhao apne kirdar, ki parde girne ke baad bhi taaliyan bajte rahein” was not only his last whatsapp status ,but the way he lived. Martyred just after the day where he was awarded the gallantry medal on republic day for his service shows his nature of leading his men from the front. The nation was in tears when his 11 year old daughter saluted him, bid adieu and shouted his regimental war cry.
